The Holidays

In European Union on December 20, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Yes, it’s that time of the year.  What time of the year.  The one, at least in the U.S. where you have to remember (if you’re not from the U.S.) to use the word holidays and not a particular holiday.

This is a good thing, although it does take some practice.

It’s also that time of the year when the first academic semester winds down and the second one gears up.  It’s the winter break, well it is for the students. So it’s all about letting the students have a break. Did I mention that in general I don’t approve of the lack of holidays (of any form) in this country?

It’s also a time for family and friends, and I like that, mostly.

And, then of course there’s the indulgence of that winter holiday away from the office… Christmas for me used to be public, now it’s like it’s become my secret. One I share with a few people. Secretly. That’s a weird plus.
